*Brainspirations is a series by Jason, created during his healing journey. Sharing it here aims to foster self-compassion and ignite love from within.
Ever find your heart brimming with love, only to realize it seldom flows inward?
Here’s a nugget of truth - if your heart's a chalice of love, string it out into the world!
Reflecting back, my reservoir of love seemed boundless when directed outward. Was my heart too expansive, or was it just dodging the reflection in the mirror? I'd bask in the joy of showering love upon the world, yet, when it came to self-love, the drought was real.
Nestled comfortably in the realm of self-loathing, the mere thought of embracing myself felt alien. Love myself? It seemed like a tall tale. Judge if you will, but let’s face it, loving oneself often feels like a herculean task compared to showering affection elsewhere.
In a world that constantly bombards us with reasons to doubt our worth, it's no surprise we often dwell in self-created illusions to evade our reality. Fearing the unknown, we surrender to fear, turning a blind eye to love. Need evidence? Just skim through your newsfeed or eavesdrop on casual conversations. Positivity seems to be a rare commodity.
Amidst the chaos, we seek validation, often getting engulfed in others’ narratives, forgetting our own essence. The news, the chatter, it all seems to resonate with our fears, fortifying the walls we build against self-love.
What essence are you adding to your life tapestry – fear or love? Are you shying away from illuminating love in your life due to the fear of standing alone in your truth?
Picture my journey – engaging with individuals, young and old, weaving magic in their lives with words of hope. Yet, the applause felt hollow as I drenched myself in self-criticism, negating every sparkle of love aimed at me. Until life threw a curveball – a seizure, a brain tumor, shaking me awake to the reality of the lies I was living.
And herein lies the crux – nobody will rouse you to live a life sprinkled with self-love. Wishing won’t cut it. You’ve got to be your own cheerleader, your own source of love.
Today, my answer to self-love is a resounding YES!
Do others’ opinions sway me? Not a smidge.
Is there a secret ingredient to this transformation? Perhaps, the stark encounter with mortality tunes the heart to a different rhythm. Faced with the furnace of life, would you dash towards love or scamper in fear? My choice is love, for love is the choice of self, and choosing self grants the privilege to share my narrative with you.
Life’s ticking away with every breath. The real question is, do you love yourself enough to truly live?
Grateful for your ceaseless good vibes! ❤️🙏❤️
Warmest regards,
–Jason
