Opening Reflection: Take the First Step
We’ve all been there—waiting for the perfect moment, the perfect plan, the perfect sign. But here’s the truth: perfection is a myth, and the life you want doesn’t wait for permission. It’s already there, waiting for you to believe it’s possible and take the first step.
This week, we’re diving into the power of starting. What would happen if you simply allowed yourself to move toward the things that light you up?
Main Story: The Life You Want is Already Yours
What would you do if you knew—without a doubt—that your dreams could come true? Would you approach your life differently? Move with confidence and purpose? Or would you still find yourself holding back, stuck in doubt about whether you’re capable or deserving?
I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about this. When I first started writing books for kids, I felt that fire in my chest—the kind that gets you out of bed, excited to create. I knew I was doing something that mattered to me, something that could reach a kid like me who needed a little hope.
But along the way, resistance showed up. Someone misinterpreted my story, and it made me question my path. That moment forced me to pause and reflect. Writing for kids had given me so much joy, but I realized it wasn’t the whole picture. It was part of the journey that led me to my bigger purpose: helping people—kids and adults alike—see that they’re not alone, that mistakes are part of the process, and that we all have the power to rewrite our own stories.
Shifting my focus wasn’t easy. It took work, and it took letting go of the idea that I had to have everything figured out before I began. That’s the thing about life: we don’t always get to know where the road will take us, but we do have the power to start.
The life you want is already waiting for you. Stop overthinking. Stop waiting for the perfect plan or someone else’s approval. Just take one step toward the thing that lights you up.
Power-Up Challenge: Take the Leap
This week, pick one thing that excites you but also scares you a little. Maybe it’s pursuing a creative project, reaching out to someone you admire, or taking the first step toward a big goal. Whatever it is, start small—but start.
Write down one action you can take today, and do it.
Closing Thoughts: Your Greatness is Enough
It’s easy to think greatness lives somewhere outside of us, in the validation or approval of others. But it’s already inside you, alive in the little things you do every day. Don’t wait for someone else to tell you it’s enough. It already is.
Keep showing up. Keep believing in your story. You’ve got this. 💙
