Shifting Your Perspective in 24 Hours
Even on your worst days, remember this: you only have to get through 24 hours. And think about it—most of us sleep for six to eight of those hours. So, you really just have about 18 hours to face the world. That simple shift in perspective can help when everything feels overwhelming.
When you’re struggling, it’s because all your focus is on the pain or the problem. It’s like a wall of fear and doubt that’s blocking your view of everything else. It’s normal to feel frustrated or want to escape, but the pressure to fix everything? It usually comes from inside us, not from outside. Whether it’s the shame we heap on ourselves or the judgment we think others are piling on us, we’re the ones building that wall, brick by brick.
Breaking Down the Wall
So, how do you knock down this wall? I can’t tell you what will work best for you, but I can share what has helped me. The first step is realizing that the wall is there. Awareness is the wake-up call. For most of us, change only happens when it hurts too much to stay the same. We fill our lives with distractions or surround ourselves with things that only confirm our negative feelings. We create echo chambers where only our fears and doubts bounce back at us. And trust me, I’ve been guilty of this too. It’s easy to fall into, especially with all the comparisons we see every day. But once you become aware of it, you can start tearing down those walls. It takes practice, so give yourself some grace when you don’t get it right every time. That’s okay. Just keep moving forward.
Unplug and Refocus
When was the last time you unplugged from all the noise? Our phones show us more of what we’ve been focusing on, and our minds work the same way. If you’re constantly thinking about what you don’t want, then of course that’s all you’ll see.
The good news is that you have the power to change what you focus on. You have the power to create the life you want to live. It starts with a simple declaration: “I AM.” Picture yourself living the life you desire, and step into it. Let go of the version of yourself that no longer serves you. It’s going to take practice, but here’s the best part: you get 24 hours every single day to try again. You’ve got this!
Power-Up Challenge:
Today, make a choice to unplug for one hour. No phones, no distractions—just you and your thoughts. Use this time to reflect on what you want to focus on for the rest of your day. Then, declare it: “I AM” followed by the version of yourself you want to be. You’re in control. Use your 24 hours wisely!
Closing Thoughts:
Thank you for being here with me today. Remember, each day is a fresh start. No matter how yesterday went, today is another chance to build the life you want. Keep pushing forward, and don’t forget to give yourself grace along the way. You’ve got this, and we’re all in this together. 💙 PowerUp
