Beyond Hope Project: The Truth About Progress (and What Really Matters)

We’ve all felt it—the relentless push to make progress, to hustle harder, to outdo ourselves and everyone else. But what if what we’ve been told about progress is actually holding us back? Let’s talk about it.

The Trap of Progress: Chumming the Water for Doubt

We often become obsessed with progress when we’re chasing what we want. It’s everywhere—social feeds, the news, countless gurus preaching their version of success. They tell us to hustle harder, hold the vision, and outwork everyone around us.

But here’s the catch: all that noise can leave us feeling indecisive and lost in the shuffle of “I must be doing it wrong.” It’s like chumming the water for sharks, trapping us in a cycle of self-doubt. And let’s be real—if someone shared the real secret, how would they keep selling us the next big thing?

2024 Reflections: When Looking Outward Leads You Astray

Can you believe 2024 is almost over? As I reflect on this past year, I’ve seen this theme play out in my own life over and over. I kept looking for answers outside myself.

The problem wasn’t wanting help—it was giving so much weight to other people’s opinions that I started undervaluing my own. I changed my message, my site, and even my mind more times than I want to admit. Honestly, my website looked like a jumbled mess (it’s fixed now, by the way, and it’s very cool—you should check it out). I even delayed finished projects, like books that were ready to go, because I doubted my instincts.

The Hard Truth About Progress

Here’s the thing I learned: progress isn’t the goal—it’s actually a distraction. It’s easy to look busy and call it progress, but without real change, it’s just fluff. A shiny lure to keep us chasing the next big thing.

If you want to make progress that matters, change is the key. And the first step? Shifting your mind about what’s possible. You can’t make meaningful progress until you believe you can. That’s the hardest part because so many of us are wired to talk ourselves out of our own dreams.

Aligning With Your True Self

Real progress happens when you realize that if you can imagine it, you can make it happen. The secret isn’t about hustling harder—it’s about aligning with who you truly are. Picture yourself as the person you want to be. Act like them. Do what they would do.

When you align with that vision of yourself, the progress you’ll make will feel effortless—and it’ll blow your mind.

Key Insight:

Change, Not Progress, Is What Really Matters

We’ve been conditioned to equate busyness with progress, but the truth is that change—not endless hustle—is the secret to meaningful growth. Real progress comes when you align with your true self and step into the belief that you can achieve what you imagine.

Power-Up Challenge:

The “Future You” Challenge

Take five minutes today to close your eyes and picture the version of yourself you want to become. What do they wear? How do they act? What decisions would they make today? Write down one action they’d take and commit to doing it this week. Small shifts build big changes.

Closing Thoughts:

Here’s to Becoming Who You’re Meant to Be

We all have the power to align with the person we’re meant to be. It’s not about hustling harder or checking off another box; it’s about believing in the possibility of your dreams. When you let go of the noise and step into your vision, everything changes. Here’s to making that shift—and to discovering how effortless progress can feel when it’s aligned with who you truly are.

Thank you for being part of this journey. You’ve got this.
