Embracing Change: The Journey Within
As we sit on the sidelines of our lives, just observing, what do we really see? Are there patterns we want to change? Maybe we’re spotlighting our feelings of lack and unworthiness. But remember, there’s plenty of love and joy too. What do we choose to focus on? If you’re like most people, it’s the painful feelings that cling to us, overshadowing the joy and hope we’re reaching for. It’s too easy to fall into thinking that maybe some happiness just isn’t meant for us—that others are more deserving or just have it easier.
Personal Insight: Finding Self-Worth
Personally, I’ve often felt like a background player in my life. It started as a kid, feeling out of place and never quite fitting in. To cope, I created masks to get through situations and feel like I belonged. This carried into adulthood, where I found it hard to say ‘no,’ fearing that setting boundaries would make people dislike me. I constantly compared myself to others who seemed to have it all together, thinking that if they liked me, I’d have it all together too.
Shifting Perspective: Everyone Faces Challenges
But take a moment—do those people you compare yourself to really have some special powers? Aren’t they just like you, putting their pants on one leg at a time? Sure, some people start off with advantages, but they still face their own challenges. The world is full of stories where having it all doesn’t guarantee a happy ending.
Taking Action: Your Path to Transformation
I’ve heard over and over about the magic that happens when we open ourselves to evolving. There was no magic when I was four hundred pounds and lost nearly two hundred pounds. Magic was missing when I started a business (and failed) that took me across the country and found things I created in retail stores everywhere. Magic was missing when I was broke, on the brink of foreclosure, when I decided to start writing books. Well, it was but I missed it. It was a brain tumor that finally made me wake up. This time, I stopped comparing, woke up, and got to work getting to know myself. Little did I know what I would discover, and I never thought I would fall in love with myself. Moving forward, I can share my stories, provide hope, and pass on the greatest gift a brain tumor brought into my life. You aren’t all those things you say about yourself. Give not just grace to you, but to the countless others out there trying to do their best. You don’t need to wear masks; the right people will like you for exactly who you are. Don’t be afraid to show them the real you.
